Japanese Red Maple

Japanese maples (Acer palmatum) transform landscapes with their dramatic tapestries of spring, summer and autumn foliage. Their deeply cut, often-lacy leaves usher in spring with shades from palest chartreuse to fire-engine red. Green, red and maroon summer foliage turns crimson, pink, gold and orange in fall before dropping to reveal the maples’ smooth-barked, graceful forms. Yellow spots disfiguring these elegant leaves signal a Japanese maple in need of help.
